We have recently heard that Hank Vandezande, the second principal of Fraser Valley Christian High School (Surrey Christian Secondary Campus), passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Hank said that “ he was at peace and ready to be with Jesus.” Hank was a dedicated leader, committed to a transformational worldview and led the school through significant changes.

Our hearts and prayers go to his wife Georgina and their family. Hank’s legacy will live on as we share the stories and the history of our school. It was an honour for me to meet him and a privilege to interview him for this Avenues article below.

In interviews with new parents and students, I share about the vision for Christian education that has shaped Fraser Valley Christian/Surrey Christian School. I am grateful for Hank’s work in the beginning years of this school. His leadership was instrumental in shaping the story we now live in as Fraser Valley Christian/Surrey Christian School. Hank’s legacy does indeed live on.
