The Fine Arts Department represents the amalgamation of the Music, Theatre, Media, Creative Writing, and Art departments. We have been placed together because, although we teach a variety of curriculums, we share the common thread of process. We all work to a common end of performance/exhibition, but we predominantly teach process. In music, we spend several weeks creating and interpreting a piece of music; in drama, we develop blocking, stage presence, and character; in media, we spend time perfecting the composition and editing of visuals; in art we spend the time developing the skills involved in creating a drawing/painting/sculpture; in creative writing we play with words to tell a story, create a sonnet, or craft a poem. Although the final product may look very different, the process is very similar. As instructors in the Fine Arts, we encourage, refocus, challenge, and respond to our students to ultimately help them develop their God-given gifts in the framework of a Biblical Worldview.
