You and your toddler are invited to attend SCS Noah’s Ark Learning Start. This FREE, drop-in program is hosted in the library at the elementary campus on Tuesdays at 10 am. Trained in Early Childhood Education, our librarian Ms. Jen VanderBeek (aka ‘Miss Jen’), will introduce and encourage very young children in the following areas:
- early pre-reading skills
- basic early social skills
- artistic expression with sometimes messy materials
hhh(we do the clean-up – you take home the project!)
- development of motor skills through play opportunities/material
- story-time with songs, games and literacy appreciation
- a ‘gentle’ introduction to the routine and expectation of ‘school’
Sign up is not required. Parents will be asked to fill out a participation form
(SCS Safety Policy) which will be available when you attend your first session.
Parents and toddlers are welcome to borrow books from the library.
Please note: When the school is closed (due to weather, holidays, etc.), Noah’s Ark will be cancelled for that day.
Our family has been attending Noah’s Ark with Ms. Jen for about a year now, and I want to let you know that our family LOVES it. We’ve been working on the theme of gratitude at home and every night the kids tell us one thing they are grateful for: Noah’s Ark library time and the favourite crafts and songs that Ms. Jen prepares for them every week. It’s obviously left quite the impact on them and I love that they have so much fun there without realizing that they are learning so many skills at the same time. Noah’s Ark has been a big blessing for our whole family. We cannot thank you enough for giving us of your schedule, resources, and amazing staff, like Jenny!
